There are some simple rules to see if your current vehicle qualifies for this Program. Now we say simple, as of right now it seems pretty cut and dry, but as we all know things can always change. Below are the rules for qualification. If there are any questions, always feel free to call and I will help you see if your vehicle meets these criteria!
Your trade-in vehicle must...
...Have been manufactured less than 25 years before the date you trade it in
...Have a "new" combined city/highway fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon or less
...Be in drivable condition
...Be continuously insured and registered to the same owner for the full year preceding the trade-in
The trade-in vehicle must have been manufactured not earlier than 25 years before the date of trade in and, in the case of a category 3 vehicle, must also have been manufactured not later than model year 2001 Note that work trucks (i.e., very large pickup trucks and cargo vans) have different requirements.
So far this is what is being put out all across the Web as the Criteria, but as stated before..things have been known to change. Keep updated on this site daily to see if there are any last minute changes!
While the CARS Act makes transactions on and after July 1 potentially eligible for credits under the CARS program, interested dealers and consumers may want to wait until all of the detailed issues that must be addressed in the implementing regulations are resolved and the final rule is issued. Issuance will occur around July 24.
We have been helping those who are interested in this Program, get everything they need rolling..so that when it does officially start...they do not lose out. It will be a first come first serve basis. There is an allotment of FUNDS that has been approved for this Bill and when it is up, the Program ends. So the best bet is to get started as soon as possible to avoid not being able to take part in it.
For any further questions, concerns, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me directly and I will do what I can to help!
